Scandinavia’s longest and the most beautiful beach is in Yyteri, only a 15-minute drive (18 km) from Central Pori. Follow the main roads 2, 8, 23, and 11 to Pori.
When you arrive in Yyteri, the handy carpark is only a short walk from the beach. The carpark is located at the end of the Yyterinsantojentie road. There is another carpark at the Yyteri Refresh Hotel at Sipintie 1. Both carparks are free of charge and you can follow the duckboards to the beach. The toilets and changing rooms are along the duckboards.
You can also get to Yyteri by bus. Buses number 34 and 37 depart to Yyteri from the Travel Centre. You can buy the ticket (EUR 5.50) from the driver with cash, and the buses run approx. once every hour. You can check the timetables and updated information in Finnish here. In English you can use Google maps to get directions and bus timetables to Yyteri.
Well-maintained cycling paths lead to Yyteri, and once you get there, you can treat yourself to a dip in the sea.
You can borrow a green City Bike at the Porina service point. It is open on Mondays at 9:00 – 16:30 and Tuesdays to Fridays at 8:00 – 16.30 at Yrjönkatu 6. You can borrow bikes for free, but you have to pay a deposit. A one-day deposit costs EUR 20, and a one-week-deposit EUR 50. You will get the deposit back when you return the bike. You can borrow a bike for one week at the time. If you wish, you can also have a helmet and a light.
